Trike races! Calling all kids (and kids at heart)

Three-wheelers are part of ATOC Sonora too…
By Bruce Tepper

Along with the Gran Fondo ride for those serious cyclists, there’s a Bike Rodeo and Tricycle ride taking place at Sonora Elementary School starting at 1 PM. The bike rodeo is a safety event designed to teach kids bike safety and better riding habits.

Registration opens at 12:30 and kids need to register in advance and bring their bike and a helmet with them. Registration forms can be downloaded here and need to be mailed to or dropped off at Sonora elementary school in advance. There are prizes and entry is free.

At 3:00 PM comes the crazy part of the afternoon with the tricycle races which are open to all ages! For kids, the registration fee is equal to their age and there will be all sorts of activities for them.

For businesses or individual adults who want to get on a three-wheeler and race, the entry fee is $50 per team. What a great value – sponsor a team and become famous for your skill riding close to the ground. Some of you adults might want to consider padded clothing if the race gets too tough.

It should be a great afternoon, as well as chance to show your support for Amgen Tour of California – Sonora.
